International Student Scholarship

About the scholarship  

CQUniversity Australia offers the International Student Scholarship (ISS) to new international students who are enrolling in vocational, research, full degree or packaged academic coursework programs at any of its campuses. The scholarship is available to all eligible students, regardless of their GPA. 

Our regional campuses in Queensland offer more than just a high-quality education. Students can experience a close-knit community, explore iconic natural wonders, and enjoy a lower cost of living compared to larger cities. 

If you have completed your most recent studies successfully and meet the requirements for an eligible course at CQUniversity, you will be considered for the scholarship automatically. The scholarship covers 25% of your total course fee and is a great way to offset the cost of your education.

  • Closing Date: 31 December 2030 
  • Level of study: all levels, from English Language + Academic, VET, Undergraduate to Postgraduate (Course work) and Postgraduate (Research) 

Eligibility 

To be eligible for this scholarship,  

  • You must be a full-time student studying on campus at any of CQUniversity Australia’s campuses. 
  • There is no minimum GPA required to be eligible for the scholarship.

Destination Australia Scholarships

About the scholarship  

The Destination Australia Scholarships are a government-funded initiative that provides financial support to new international students who choose to study and live in regional Australia. Each scholarship is valued at A$15,000 per year and is available to eligible students studying at CQUniversity’s regional campuses. 

As an added benefit, all new international students studying at our regional campuses may also be eligible for the CQUniversity-funded International Student Scholarship, which provides an additional 25% scholarship to help offset the cost of tuition. 

  • Scholarship Value: A$15 000 pear year + 25% tuition fee scholarship through the International Student Scholarship 
  • Length of Scholarship: Full duration of your studies 

Eligibility  

To be eligible for the Destination Australia Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria: 

  • You must be a new, full-time, on-campus undergraduate or postgraduate student at CQUniversity. 
  • You must have achieved an overall grade of at least 65% or equivalent in your most recent studies. 
  • The scholarship is only valid for the Bundaberg, Cairns or Rockhampton campus and cannot be transferred to other campuses. You must maintain your enrolment at one of these regional campuses for the duration of the scholarship. 
  • You must hold a valid Student Visa for the entire duration of the scholarship. 
  • You must maintain ongoing residency in the regional area where your study is based for the duration of the scholarship. 

How to apply  

To apply for the Destination Australia Scholarship, you will need to complete the following steps: 

  • Submit your application for admission to an undergraduate or postgraduate program at CQUniversity’s Bundaberg, Cairns or Rockhampton campus. 
  • Complete the application form for the Destination Australia Scholarship and provide all necessary supporting documentation. 
  • Your application must include a written submission of 500 words or less, outlining your motivation for studying in regional Australia and how you plan to use the scholarship to achieve your academic goals. 
  • You will also need to provide an unofficial transcript from CQUniversity and any documents that demonstrate your community involvement, exemplary work or leadership skills. 
  • Finally, you should include your resume to showcase your academic achievements and work experience.

Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend Scholarship

About the scholarship  

The RTP Stipend Scholarship is funded by the Australian Government, which provides funding of $28,854 per annum to assist students with their living costs while undertaking a research higher degree. 

The scholarship can be awarded for up to 3 years and there are 2 scholarships available.

Eligibility 

To be eligible for the RTP Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria: 

  • You must be enrolled as a domestic candidate or an overseas candidate in an accredited Research Higher Degree (RHD) course of study at CQUniversity. 
  • You must not be receiving income from another source that supports your general living costs while undertaking your course of study if that income is greater than 75% of the RTP Stipend rate. Any income that is unrelated to your course of study or received specifically for the purposes of supporting your general living costs will be taken into account. 
  • You must not be receiving an equivalent award of scholarship from the Commonwealth designed to offset RHD tuition fees to be eligible for the RTP Fees Offset. 

Criteria  

This Scholarship is awarded based on merit, and applicants will be evaluated using a Scholarship Assessment Scale that uses three performance categories. The points for each category are as follows: 

  • Academic achievement and writing skills (0-20 points) 
  • Quality of research project and alignment with CQUniversity research priority areas (0-15 points) 
  • Evidence of motivation, research experience, and research environment (0-15 points) 

The total number of points an applicant can receive is 50. The Scholarship Assessment Scale is designed to assist in the allocation of scholarships to eligible applicants. The categories and points are intended to ensure that the most deserving and qualified applicants receive the scholarship. How to apply  

To apply for an RTP Scholarship, you will need to follow these steps: 

  • Discuss your interest in an RHD Scholarship with your supervisory team. 
  • Prospective applicants will be invited by the School of Graduate Research to complete an application, based on the recommendation of the supervisory team. 
  • When completing the application, make sure to include all necessary supporting documents, as incomplete applications will not be considered. 
  • The supporting documentation required for the application may vary depending on the applicant’s specific situation, so it’s best to confirm with the School of Graduate Research or your supervisory team what documents are needed.
