To support students, USC offers $4.3 million in scholarships and bursaries each year. As a result, more than 1,500 students are financially supported annually. By lodging just one application, you’ll be considered for all eligible scholarships at USC.

  • This kind of scholarship is available to international students commencing in 2023. They cannot be deferred past a 2023 intake. 
  • The scholarships cannot be applied in conjunction with other UniSC international scholarships or tuition fee reductions. 

English Excellence Scholarship

About the scholarship 

  • Value: 20% of total tuition fee  

Eligibility and Details  

  • International students who have achieved higher than required results in a recognised English language proficiency test are eligible for this scholarship. 
  • The scholarships are available to international students commencing in 2023. They cannot be deferred past a 2023 intake. 
  • They cannot be used in conjunction with other UniSC international scholarships or tuition fee reductions. 
  • Awardees must achieve minimum specified resultsin one of three recognised English proficiency tests: IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, or PTE. The English Excellence Scholarship is not available to students enrolling in a UniSC English language program. 

Blackwood 76 Fund Study Support Bursary

About the scholarship 

  • This scholarship is for international students who are relocating to study a bachelor’s or master’s by coursework degree at the UniSC Moreton Bay Campus. 
  • Value: $2,500 
  • Number of recipients: 3  

Selection criteria 

This scholarship will be considered based on the following criteria:  

  • Financial need 
  • Academic merit 

UniSC Asylum Seeker Scholarships

About the scholarship 

  • Each scholarship will fully cover the international student tuition fees for any undergraduate or postgraduate program that a recipient is eligible to enter at UniSC. In addition, the scholarship includes a stipend of $4,000 per year (pro-rata for part-time study) and a $1,000 one-off upfront payment in year 1 
  • Number available: 4 

Eligibility and details  

  • a commencing undergraduate or postgraduate student undertaking study at UniSC 
  • must be a holder of one of the following Australian visas: 
    • Bridging Visa E (subclass 050) 
    • Bridging Visa A (subclass 010) 
    • Temporary Protection Visa (subclass 785) 
    • Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (subclass 790) 
    • Temporary Humanitarian Stay Visa (subclass 449) 
    • Temporary Humanitarian Concern Visa (subclass 786) 
  • Must be in financial need. 

Selection Process  

To be eligible for this financial aid, you must demonstrate that you are in need of financial assistance. Your application should include the following documents: 

  • Evidence of your financial need 
  • Other equity considerations and circumstances 
  • A personal statement 

HDR Scholarships

About the scholarship 

  • Value: AU$33,446.56 (2023 rate) per annum tax-free, paid in fortnightly instalments. 
  • You will also be awarded with a tuition fee scholarship for the whole study duration at UniSC.  
  • Duration: Scholarship is awarded for 3 years with the possibility of two 6-month extensions in approved circumstances for Doctoral programs and 1.5 years with the possibility of one 6-month extension in approved circumstances for master’s programs.

  • To be successful in scholarship application, applicants will require a successful admission into a HDR Program. 

Application process  

Step 1: Contact referees  

  • Applicants must provide two referee reports to support their application. 
  • Referees must have knowledge of the applicant’s qualifications, level of skill and capacity for research.

  • Applicants must request their referees submit their written reports directly to UniSC

Step 3: Lodge your application 

Scholarships are awarded through a competitive process which considers academic merit, research experience and/or potential. Please ensure to submit supporting documents together with your application. Common documents include:  

  • your research experience (journal article, conference, creative work, etc.)  
  • your university degree together with academic transcript  
  • English language requirements: Normally, you are required to obtain an IELTS 6.5 with no band score under 6.0. 
  • your supervisor: It is advisable that you contact your preferred potential supervisor early to check their availability. You’ll need your proposed supervisor’s written support before you can submit your expression of interest. 
  • your research proposal: It is a key requirement of your application. Writing a research proposal is an essential step in defining and conveying your research interests and goals. Once you have your proposed supervisor’s written agreement to support your project, work with them to develop your research proposal.
