Academic Performance Scholarship

About the scholarship  

This scholarship offered by Southern Cross University provides a maximum fee reduction of $5,000 for the first year to international students who have successfully completed all their first-year units, whether in an undergraduate or postgraduate program. For subsequent years, the scholarship’s value is determined based on academic merit and calculated using the previous scholarship year’s course GPA across eight completed units.  

  • Students with a course GPA between 4.0 and 5.4 are eligible for $5,000 
  • Students with a course GPA between 5.5 and 7.0 can receive up to $8,000.  

It’s important to note that scholarship payments are applied per unit, up to the maximum scholarship amount for that scholarship year. 

Eligibility 

To be eligible for the Academic Performance Scholarship, international students must meet the following requirements: 

  • Currently enrolled in an eligible program at Southern Cross University’s main campuses 
  • Completed at least one year of study at the university with a minimum overall course GPA of 4.0 
  • Maintain attendance requirements of their program and student visa to remain eligible for the scholarship. 

International Advancement Scholarship

About the scholarship  

This scholarship program is designed to assist international students who are currently enrolled at Southern Cross University or another Australian university and wish to pursue a postgraduate qualification or a full degree at Southern Cross University.  

The scholarship provides a maximum fee reduction of $8,000 for the first year. For subsequent years, the scholarship value is based on merit and the previous year’s course GPA as below:  

  • $5,000 awarded for a course GPA of 4.0 to 5.4, 
  • $8,000 for a course GPA of 5.5 to 7.0.  

It is important to note that the scholarship payments are applied per unit and up to the maximum scholarship amount for that scholarship year. The scholarship year is based on consecutive teaching periods of six terms or three sessions.

Eligibility  

To be eligible for the Advancement Scholarship, students must meet the following requirements: 

  • Apply for a full-time (8 units per year) undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree at either the Gold Coast, Lismore or Coffs Harbour campus. 
  • Have completed either: (1) An undergraduate or postgraduate degree at Southern Cross University, or (2) Two sessions of Study Abroad at Southern Cross University. 
  • Meet the minimum admission requirements of the University, which include: 
  • For undergraduate entry: A qualification equivalent to Australian Year 12 and the required entry grade for the program they have applied for, as well as English language proficiency comparable to Academic IELTS 6.0 overall with no band less than 5.5*. 
  • For postgraduate entry: A qualification equivalent to an Australian Bachelor degree, as well as English language proficiency comparable to Academic IELTS 6.5*. 
  • For continuing scholarship years, the value is merit-based and calculated based on the previous scholarship year’s course GPA (across the 8 units completed): 
    • Course GPA 4.0 to 5.5: $5000 
    • Course GPA 5.5 to 7.0: $8000 

International Outstanding Academic Performance Scholarship

About the scholarship:  

The Academic Excellence Scholarship offers a maximum fee reduction of $8,000 for the first year to international students who have achieved exceptional academic performance in either their undergraduate or postgraduate studies at Southern Cross University.  

For subsequent scholarship years, the value of the scholarship is determined based on the student’s course GPA from the previous scholarship year, calculated across 8 completed units. 

  •  A GPA of 4.0 to 5.4 will result in a $5,000 scholarship 
  •  A GPA of 5.5 to 7.0 will result in an $8,000 scholarship.  

Please note that the scholarship payments will be applied per unit up to the maximum scholarship amount for that scholarship year. 

Eligibility 

To be eligible for the Outstanding Academic Performance Scholarship, international students must meet the following criteria: 

  • Be currently enrolled as an eligible international student at Southern Cross University. 
  • Have completed at least one year (8 units) of study at Southern Cross University and achieved a Course GPA of 5.5 or higher. 
  • Fulfill the attendance requirements of their program and student visa to remain eligible for the scholarship. 

SCU International Regional Scholarship

About the scholarship  

During your first scholarship year, you can receive a maximum fee reduction of $5,000. For the following scholarship year/s, the value of the scholarship is merit-based and calculated according to your course GPA from the previous year, across the eight units you completed.  

  • If your course GPA was between 4.0 and 5.4, you can receive a scholarship of $5,000.  
  • If it was between 5.5 and 7.0, you can receive a scholarship of $8,000.  

It’s important to note that the scholarship payments will be applied per unit, up to the maximum scholarship amount for each scholarship year. 

Eligibility  

To apply for the SCU International Regional Scholarship, students must meet the following criteria: 

  • Apply for full-time (8 units per year) undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree at the Lismore, Gold Coast or Coffs Harbour campus. 
  • Meet the minimum admission requirements of the University, including:  
    • For undergraduate entry: a qualification equivalent to Australian Year 12 and the required entry grade for the program applied for, and English language skills comparable to Academic IELTS 6.0 overall with no band less than 5.5 
    • For postgraduate entry: a qualification equivalent to an Australian Bachelor degree, and English language skills comparable to Academic IELTS 6.5.
  • Maintain a Course GPA of at least 5.5, after successfully completing a minimum of one year (8 units) of study at Southern Cross University. 
  • Meet the attendance requirements of their program and student visa to remain eligible for the scholarship. 

SCU International Women in STEM Scholarship

About the scholarship  

The Women in STEM Scholarship is designed to encourage new female international students who wish to pursue a full undergraduate or postgraduate degree in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Faculty of Health, or Bachelor/Master of Information Technology at the Gold Coast, Lismore, or Coffs Harbour campuses of Southern Cross University. The scholarship provides a maximum fee reduction of $8,000 for the first year of study. 

For subsequent years, the scholarship amount is determined based on academic merit and calculated according to the previous year’s course GPA, based on completion of 8 units. The scholarship values for each year are as follows: 

  • Course GPA 4.0 to 5.4: $5000 
  • Course GPA 5.5 to 7.0: $8000 

It is important to note that the scholarship payments will be distributed per unit, up to the maximum scholarship amount for that year. 

Eligibility  

To be eligible for the SCU International Women in STEM Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria: 

  • Must be a female international onshore student. 
  • Apply for a full-time (8 units per year) postgraduate coursework degree from the Faculty of Science and Engineering or Faculty of Health at either the Gold Coast, Lismore or Coffs Harbour campus. 
  • Must have a strong academic performance in maths and science and meet the University’s minimum admission requirements. 
  • For undergraduate entry, must have a qualification equivalent to Australian Year 12 and meet the required entry grade for the program applied to, as well as English language proficiency equivalent to Academic IELTS 6.0 overall with no band less than 5.5*. 
  • For postgraduate entry, must have a qualification equivalent to an Australian Bachelor degree, as well as English language proficiency equivalent to Academic IELTS 6.5*. 
  • For continuing scholarship year/s, the scholarship amount is merit-based and determined by the previous scholarship year’s course GPA (across 8 completed units): 
    • Course GPA 4.0 to 5.4 — $5000 
    • Course GPA 5.5 to 7.0 — $8000 
  • Students must meet the attendance requirements of their program and student visa to maintain eligibility for the scholarship. 

Vice Chancellor’s Academic Excellence Scholarship

About the scholarship  

This scholarship is open to future international students who exhibit exceptional academic abilities and exceed the entry requirements for their chosen program of study, as well as demonstrate outstanding academic potential. Successful applicants can receive up to $8,000 in fee reduction for their first year of study. Subsequent years’ scholarship values are merit-based and determined by the previous year’s course GPA (based on 8 completed units): 

  • Course GPA 4.0 to 5.4 — $5000 
  • Course GPA 5.5 to 7.0 — $8000 

It’s important to note that payments are applied per unit up to the maximum scholarship amount for that year, and students must maintain attendance requirements of their program and student visa to remain eligible.

To be eligible for the Vice Chancellor’s Academic Excellence Scholarship, students must meet the following requirements: 

  • Apply for a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree at the Gold Coast, Lismore, or Coffs Harbour campus. Applications for pathway programs such as diplomas, graduate certificates, or graduate diplomas will not be considered. 
  • Exceed the minimum admission requirements of the University. A panel will evaluate academic excellence. 
  • For undergraduate entry: hold a qualification equivalent to Australian Year 12 with the required entry grade for the program, and demonstrate English proficiency equivalent to Academic IELTS 6.0 overall with no band less than 5.5. 
  • For postgraduate entry: hold a qualification equivalent to an Australian Bachelor degree, and demonstrate English proficiency equivalent to Academic IELTS 6.5. 
  • For continuing scholarship years, the value is merit-based and calculated based on the previous year’s course GPA, across 8 completed units. The scholarship amounts are as follows: 
    • Course GPA 4.0 to 5.4: $5000 
    • Course GPA 5.5 to 7.0: $8000 
  • Students must meet the attendance requirements of their program and abide by the student visa conditions to remain eligible for the scholarship. 

Vice Chancellor’s International Diversification Scholarship

About the scholarship 

The International Student Scholarship at Southern Cross University aims to recognize and honor the diversity of nationalities represented by international students studying at the university. 

The scholarship offers an $8,000 maximum fee reduction for the first year of study. For subsequent scholarship years, the value is merit-based and calculated based on the previous year’s course GPA (across eight completed units), with the following amounts awarded: 

  • Course GPA 4.0 to 5.4: $5,000 
  • Course GPA 5.5 to 7.0: $8,000

    • For undergraduate entry: Provide a qualification equivalent to Australian Year 12, meet the required entry grade for the applied program, and demonstrate English language proficiency comparable to Academic IELTS 6.0 overall with no band less than 5.5*. 
    • For postgraduate entry: Provide a qualification equivalent to an Australian Bachelor degree, and demonstrate English language proficiency comparable to Academic IELTS 6.5*. 
  • The scholarship’s value for the subsequent years is based on the previous academic year’s course GPA across 8 completed units: 
    • Course GPA 4.0 to 5.4 — $5000 
    • Course GPA 5.5 to 7.0 — $8000
  • Eligible students must fulfill the attendance requirements of their program and student visa conditions. 
  • Applicants from Australia or New Zealand, India, or Nepal are not eligible for the scholarship.
