QUT offers hundreds of undergraduate and postgraduate study options. Also, for those who cannot meet the entry requirements (English requirements and academic entry requirements), QUT provides a wide range of English language and academic pathway programs that lead students directly to undergraduate or postgraduate study.

English Language Programs

The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program are designed to provide a direct entry pathway into QUT degree courses. Students with a high English language score could complete the course more quickly. There is only a maximum of 15 students per class, which ensures students receive full attention and support from the teacher.

General English

The General English Program provided by QUT college incorporates five levels ranging from Elementary to Advanced. It aims to help the student to learn the core skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

IELTS Advanced

The IELTS Advanced program aims to help the student to meet the English requirements for entry into QUT courses with a requirement for IELTS 7.0 (sub-scores 7.0). For Diploma in Health Science (Nursing) pathway students, this program includes two IELTS Academic tests in QUT IELTS Test Centre.

EAP 2 (Standard): IELTS 6.0 (Reading and Writing 5.5, Speaking & Listening 5.0)
EAP 3 (Standard): IELTS 6.5 (Reading and Writing 6.5, Speaking & Listening 6.0)

Intake date: March, July and November (EAP 3 only has March and November intakes)
Duration: 10 weeks
Pathway: Depending on the student’s result obtained during the EAP program, the student could be admitted directly to undergraduate and postgraduate courses, to different pathway programs including diploma, foundation, UCTP, etc. or progress to higher level EAP program.

EAP Extended (Ranges from EAP 1 to EAP 3)

IELTS requirements:

EAP 1 (Extended): IELTS 5.0 (Reading and Writing 5.0)
EAP 2 (Extended): IELTS 5.5 (Reading and Writing 5.5)
EAP 3 (Extended): IELTS 6.5 (Reading and Writing 6.5)

Intake date: February, June and October (EAP 3 only has February and October intakes)
Duration: 15 weeks
Pathway: Depending on the student’s result obtained during the EAP program, the student could be admitted directly into undergraduate and postgraduate courses, or into different pathway programs including diploma, foundation, UCTP, etc. or even to progress to a higher level EAP program.

Foundation

The foundation program helps the students to enter the first year of their bachelor degree in QUT. The program is designed to help the students who have already finished their Year 11 or Year 12 studies but have not met the required academic or English requirement for the bachelor’s study.

Extended Foundation

Diploma

The diploma programs are designed to help students meet both academic and English requirements in order to enter the second year of QUT bachelor programs. The students will study academic units from the first year of their bachelor’s degree. Students can also develop their English skills and progress directly to the second year of their bachelor programs without the need to take another IELTS test.

2021 Fees: Ranging from $21570 to $29828
IELTS Requirements: 5.5 (sub-scores 5.0); except for Diploma in Health Science (Nursing), the IELTS requirements is 6.0 (sub-scores 5.5)
Intake Dates: February, June and October; the Diploma in Health Science (Nursing) only has February and June intakes
Duration: 8 months
Pathway: 2nd year of undergraduate studies; for Diploma of Health Science, successfully completing this program will offer advanced standing into a range of bachelor degrees related to health.

Graduate Certificate in Communication

This program is specifically designed for the students who could not meet the English requirement for the QUT master’s degree. This program helps students to meet the English requirement without the need to take another IELTS test. Students will study two communication units and two academic units from their chosen master’s degree. Successful completion of this program will award student one semester of advanced standing towards their master’s study.

2021 Fees: Ranging from $15500 to $18400
IELTS requirements: 6.0 (Reading & Writing 5.5, Speaking & Listening 5.0)
Intake dates: February and July
Duration: 1 semester
Pathway: Postgraduate programs with chosen majors

University Certificate in Tertiary Preparation

This program is designed for the students whose chosen major is not eligible for the Graduate Certificate in Communication Program, it could help students to meet the English requirements for the program which requires an IELTS result of 6.5 (sub-scores 6.0).
